Default RST S2 couple of questions.

well first this happened.

so decided to take the head off and get the valves checked and a skim etc. I have been told that the head has been ported and polished ant some point and that it is a lager turbo fitted and that is why I have dyno print outs from the previous owner indicating 160 Bhp and have also been told at this it has more than likely been chipped so opened the ecu up today and found this.

Any ideas?
and found the amal valve has been looped and a bleed valve fitted alone. Am I better to re connect it and bin the bleed valve. Last thing is I have been offered the chance of a kent cam unsure of the No. but fairly cheap is this the best way to go?

Sorry about all the questions but it's my first RST.

not been to see the cam yet having to wait until next weekend, was thinking of going back to the amal valve, until I can get a boost controller, started to think after i had posted it will be a superchips one. Cheers for the fast response.

Do superchips use motorola chips? that chip looks like it has the (M) logo.... which if they dont its a standard chip with a sticker on it.

It is a motorola chip, noticed that when it was out. O well getting a few surprises with this car found out the same day as i posted this thread it had won loads of trophies during 2 years of concours and the guy that used to own it still has the Gold cup for 1998 and it came 4th at national day. here's a couple of pics he gave me

Nice looking car, makes me want to get a red one.

With regards to superchips, I don't think i've ever heard anything really positive about them so probably best to do as above and get it put back to standard then find someone recommended by the people on this site to chip it and go from there.

I know superchips are hated on s2forum due to them doing the same as above and using a bleed valve and removing the safety's from the setup by bypassing them and causing loads of issue's on s2 audi's.

Weren't power engineering the best to have ECU's from back in the day? I'm sure i've heard they made a mod to both ECU's. I know a chap who swapped to them on his S2 and said it felt much better than his previous chipped ECU.

That being said, mine runs beautifully with the MSD ECU.

With regards to cam, i can recommend Newman, I've not had brilliant experience with Piper on my last car. Unfortunately good quality materials aren't readily available for CVH parts these days so most of the manufacturers are selling stuff which isn't as good as it used to be. And they don't seem to know much about their stuff either. Newman do.

just had something pointed out are the standard chips soldered to the board?

Going to sort out just a replacement just now, not going for power just now anyway going to try and get the body up to standard first.

I could check what chips are in mine.

In my experience the best chips have been turbo systems but that's my preference
