Heater Matrix Replacement
Hi Guys , looking for some advise please
Yesterday whilst the car was on the rolling road getting set up, the heater matrix decided to let go, we managed to by pass the pipework to continue with the setting up of the car
It was only on the rollers for no more than 10 minutes when it went , and it looks like its just wear and tear that caused it, car was Ok the rest of the hour on the rollers
Who has changed one before , and how difficult is it, on past experiences with Mk4 escorts theyre a pain in the RS
Is there maybe a technique to get the thing out , any help or advise would be much appreciated

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
it is quite shitty to change that part.you are supposed to come out with the dash to get it done..i have taken mine out as the hose connectors broke when i got the engine out..and it was actually fucked in the mesh aswell...so..
but i have just loosend the whole air box in the car..which the heater matrix fits in..i have loosend it yeah.(without takin the dash out..and got it as far back from the chassis front wall as possible..but i havent mounted the new one yet...cause i think there will be some clearance problems since the new one obviously has the hose connectors intact.doooh
i will try and mount this as soon as possible ,next week maybe.
cheers mate

Ł21 matrix
Ł300 labour !!!
It's a complete arse to day, and although it seems crazy, taking the dash out is the easiest way to ensure no breakages or damage

The car has air con to boot , so dont know if this adds to the hassle, but ill take your advise and take the dash out
Do Ford still do the heater matrix, or somewhere else, seems a good price at Ł21 youve listed there

the air con gubbins are in the engine bay side of the bulkhead so makes no odds
take plenty of pics while you are there, mainly to show us what hard work you've been doing, but also so that we can take the piss out of something dodgy we spot in the background

oh yeah..its a bit more hassle with RHD cars...because of the pedals...but its not that much easier on a LHD car..as you cant get the two pipes on the matrix past the hole in the firehole...so you have to loosen the airbox the matrix is in..as far as you can..and you might be able to squeze it back in..havent tried it yet with mine...im about to try and get the matrix back in...pain in the ass!!arrgghhh
