GT30 spool start
When starts a GT3071 to spool with an .50 exhaust housing? on a std comp escort, not 7,2 cr.
so roughly rpm, 3000 rpm or later?
Won t such a turbo not be better than a T38 as it can be run with less boost for the same amount of power?

Sim, i would have said 3000rpm would be a good estimation.
but surely a .50 exhaust housing is getting far to small for that size of turbo, and correct me if im wrong but im sure that may suffer a bit of surge!!
whats wrong with a T38 tho?
- not being picky, more curious as to what your considering doing!?

hmm
i m thinking of several options.
maybe GT30, get my pistons pocketed and get some headwork for a good 450 horses with a new gearbox
and some air for more with this turbo
T38, pockets, headwork and cams for 430 - 450 hp
or
T34 hybrid stage 3 for ~400 without headwork

Here in Australia the GT3071 and GT3076 turbo's are becoming very popular with 2 litre four cylinders. .82 housings seem to get the best response and overall power output. At 26psi on a GT3076 you will make 450-460hp very comfortably. You will get postive presssure somewhere between 2800-3000rpm and it will be all on by 3800rpm. My mates car runs a Gt3076 on a cossie and it is very impressive how it drives, its a animal.

450 / 460 with stock head and camps and inlet manifold?
seems hard.
but 3800 is too late for me.
I want at least 1 bar / 15 psi at latest 3500 rpm.
Think if I change I ll go for T38

I've just bolted a T38 on to my Escort, but it has had a lot of engine work done to it. (Low Comp, ported, BD14 cam etc)
Its going in for mapping on Feb 4th - so i'll let you know how I get on
