Move the Battery to the Boot?

Has anyone got any experience doing this?

Can anyone Suggest a good replacement battery?

Cheers

I did this on my fiesta chap - fair simple to do - I kept all of the oiriginal wiring as was and used a distribution block in place of the normal battery to make things easier, and then connected this up to the battery using new heavy gauge battery wire hat you can get from the likes of polevolt. Think you'd be wanting to use a Varley, or other sealed type battery if its going to be in the cabin with you too..

benefits are that you can then have a breather tank and windscreen washer tank fitted where the battery once was, freeing up engine bay space.

Dave Moss has had his moved to the boot, and mine is in process of being done aswell

oh and it aids (very slightly) to evening out weight distribution, if your that anal

Hiya Guys

I am loosing my tailgate and rear spoiler in place will be plastic items wich will mess up the weight of the rear end so i will be putting the battery and washer jet bottle in the boot to make the weight up and at the same time freeing up space in the front off the car and shifting some weight off that massivly heavey front end anal Kelv dont think there is anyone more anal about weight than you

Boot spce is allready fucked as i have the Danny_b Rear srutbrace and water injection tank there anyway so may as well fill it up with goodys

have been looking at these racing batterys and trays will they be ok?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=017

cheers

Ben, it also helps that im lightweight myself.

i did roll my eyes at being anal over weight saving, only because i know im a big culprit of it myself

also, if youve got the water injection tank in the boot, why dont you get the slightly larger one like goldbum has which does the windscreen aswell?

Red tops In my experience are shit, massivly expensive, they are hardly any lighter and the cranking power is shit. Cossie's need a good cranking power esp if your putting the battery in the boot. Just get a decent smallish normal battery.

I was massily disapointed with the red top I bought for my old Fiesta Turbo so I'm glad to have put you off I think they would be usefull for a small kit car where the size in important as the red tops are realitivly small and if you had a basic kit car engine like a 1600 zetec with no ancillaries would be fine.

I had an Optima yellow top on my last car but it was much heavier than a normal battery.

You shoud use a dry cell one if relocating to the boot or get a battery box incase of spliage.
