Petrol tanks's float
Took the tank out to replace the pump and found out why the hell the gauge needle never reaches full, petrol has entered into the float! what can I do to get the petrol out and reseal the float? is a new one still available?

Just put float somewhere WARM, not direct heat or it will go bang.
If warm petrol will evaporate, but as you need to seal hole anyway, you should be able to see the hole by shaking float piece about ?, then just some petrol resistant sealer over hole/s

No not silicone, this stuff is crap for just about anything the most useles stuff ever thought of.
Phone up LOCTITE on01442 278100.
I use a product called LOCTITE 5910, awsome sealant but alas NOT petrol resistant other wise I would recommend it.
I use no other sealant and have never yet had a leak in over 25 years of using this stuff.

I just don't know how come it leaks, the car has relatively low mileage (~37k). is the part still available? I just don't want risk putting the wrong stuff in the tank

That is a bit shitty considering the last ones are not that old!!, good old ford I suppose.
See if you can get one pattern, or use anything that floats and is petrol resistant fixed to the float arm, as this will then raise lower with level, maybe go to model shop for some ?
