Default Need to change crappy front brakes... but for what?

I got a 96 small turbo cossie which is totally standard on standard wheels. I need to change the front discs which could well be warped.

Anyone got any advice as what discs/pads to go for that will fit under the standard wheels?

cheers,

Lee

Adamski FRST has a set of 310mm discs with bells and brackets for sale that will bolt on using the standard calipers and will also fit under standard wheels.

You're wasting your time with standard size discs, as the car is too heavy for spirited driving with those.

With completely standard engine it's slow enough for them to cope

Maybe on the loose surfaces that you drive on, where brakes aren't used as hrad, but on decent fast roads, they are woefully inadequate and you can warp them every 10,000 miles no problem .

Mike Rainbird I know people who wear discs in less then 7000km's :-/ Mine had two sets of discs in 20 000, so this is nothing strange.

It all depends on kind of usage. For the track they are surely rubbish. But for road? Who needs more?

So to say - I think that standard suspention is more crap then standard brakes

Sounds like a good option to me. If it was me though, id see it as a perfect opportuinity (and an excuse) to upgrade to a big AP brake kit.

Am currently running entirely standard front discs with Sparco fast road pads. Works OK for me. Although I wouldn't bother buying original discs again, not when they seem to cost as much as some much sexier, non-standard items.

What wheels have you got then, as 4x4 Cossies need certain types to clear certain size brakes (prices are on my website).

COSSIE_LEE I bought some discs from Cossymad. They were branded "National Brakes" or something like that, completly unkown brand to me, but sold as a packege with DS2500 Forodos and they work just fine, no warping, no vibration, no cracking, no problems.

I paid around a ton for standard brakes last year so was expecting around 200 (plus pay someone to fit them ) for something better!
If I had 300bhp yours sound perfect.

Is it really that obvious?

I don't mind the sort like Paul who STILL uses the car in the way it was intended to be used (thrapped within an inch of it's life ), but those that wrap a car in cotton wool, don't use it, trailer it everywhere and treat it like an ornament etc, should have the car removed from them and given an old MG or such like .
