Default Insurance - expensive!!! who you with?

im looking to buy an rs1600i, its currently standard but i would like to put my zetec turbo engine in it.

cheapest i can get at the moment is 657 fully comp with 500 excess on a standard car valued at 1500 quid. this means i got no chance of insuring it once the engine is in and the cars been played with a bit (no body modifications tho, standard looks all the way)

forgot to add, im 24 with 3 points (SP30 speeding 2 yrs ago) 6yrs NCB.

who insures your RSi's? and how much you paying?

768 valued at 1500 quid with 300bhp zetec turbo engine, cossie 4 pot brakes, lowered 35mm and stainless system

1070 agreed value of 5000 quid with 300bhp zetec turbo engine, cossie 4 pot brakes, lowered 35mm and stainless system

i'd still suggest a classic policy with a 6000 mile limited mileage or less, i was 26, had no NCB whatsoever, 6 points and still only paid £600 on a £3000 agreed value full comp policy, now pay £350, and have £4500 agreed value.
