Ford Ka NO LONGER FOR SALE
Keeping for a good few months now as a spare / backup car, thanks.
One lady owner from new ( always amuses me when people put that, like it's a good thing? ) Well in this case it's not !
good bits , mot'd until 29th oct 2014 !
Tax until march or april ( will have to check )
engine just seems indestructible!
Its blue
That it really
124k full service history up to 50k then, not serviced! I'm sure it had an oil change at about 80k ish, when the water pump broke, but I'm not 100%
basically if important stuff broke, it was fixed, if it wasn't important it was ignored ( even then fixed may mean using cable ties and electrical tape! )
heating works permently until the water has leaked out of various pipes for a few weeks, then needs topping up, hasn't had anti freeze in it for years, so the waters always a rusty colour. Oh and when the heating works , you can't turn it to cool air, as the heating valve ( common issue ) doesn't work, as I removed its guts so at least you get warm air.
It does have electric windows, and they work, so cool air is available.
Air con, doubt it works?
heated front screen, working in a few patches, not much use though.
Remote central locking, doesn't work from the key ( probablythe battery , easy fix is what people say, don't they, then fix it! ) in thiscase I tried a new battery, and it still don't work. key works in the door andcentral locking works ok. boot lock key don't work, but will pop via the dashbutton.
stereo has a cd player, but passenger door speaker is intermittent
the body as you would expect , is mint, apart from, dings inthe doors, rusty fuel cap, various other rust spots here and there, washed mostweeks when it rains, MOT advisory for corrosion underneath somewhere.
Interior, generally a health hazard, always over the stablesin it, so it's a mess, will clear the rubbish out though!
Tyres have 2-3mm on
reason for sale, baby and pram, into a KA is just a pain.
so my price! £300 ( or will swap for an escort cosworth )
where did I come up with such a silly figure?
Well if can't sell it for that, ill scrap it, say £130,wheels separate £60 eBay, stereo out £30 and cash in the few months road tax.
Probably other bits a forgot that don't work, but it drivesand stops ok, may add some photos, might not.

Anyway photos at last of the beast, note with about an hours worth of work it should be a concours winning engine bay.
due to meet its death wednesday now

I know what people are saying, but cant be arsed dealing with the nupties of ebay and Gumtree.
plus the misses is nagging on as it has no heating. so need to just get it gone now. as would be sitting on the drive uninsured from Wednesday.

I'd take it off you with pleasure, but unfortunately it'd be a complicated £50 train journey.
Never like to see a good car scrapped

the hcv is the least of its problems
its more the fact you cant get the pushchair in the boot! and she has a nice 4dr fusion ready to go sitting here that just need the insurance swapping over

It's a faultless car (Endura E engined at least) if you exclude the faults that are inherited and shared across the ford range (HCV, rear bushes, rot).
People forget that it was designed to be a light, low cost, reliable car. It does all of that and doesn't suffer from any of the issues that rivals do. Never hear of engine failure from the endura, handles well due to the fiesta chassis and light weight, insurance is cheap and the economy is great, especially considering wear and tear into running costs.
Slating a Ka is like supporting Man Utd. Most people do it without really having any justification or reason

second what badj says, misses bought it new for just over 5k ( employee discount )
and has spent fuck al on it runing cost wise in that time, the odd £20/30 part.
insurance is cheep
its been a great car, its just not family friendly now
Although one night many years ago it carried 7 adults home from the pub

Doesn't justify it though - they're awful because they don't make profit?

Agree... GF had hers for 2 years as a sort of first car after not driving for ages.
she loved it... easy to drive, easy to park, cheap to run etc etc brilliant little car for a learner or first time driver!!
if it was me i would fix all the faults give it a really good mop and assuming the body work is ok with no major rust issues then it should make £700-800 with the spec of it and the fact its one owner!!

Rust on these is probably worse than any other same aged vehicle, sparkplugs like to weld themselves to the heads, noisy engine rattles caused by Ford not case hardening the tappets on the 1.3 engine, over time that means that they wear and become a loose fit in the engine block making it ovalled on the face which runs on the camshaft. That happens eventually regardless of mileage and oil quality, usually anywhere from 30-50k.
They're a cheap car, and like anything, you pay for quality.
Aside the above facts and my own experiences with them, my dislike is only my opinion, as is your own!

rust dont seem to bad especially as this particular example has spent its entire life outdoors and daily driven on muddy sufaces at the stables.
spark plugs welding them selfs to the head, why would you even change them? these ones must be original as ive never changed them! ( might wip one out and photo it tomorrow )
tappets I have adjusted them 2 or 3 times over the years but no issues at over 120k and some very very old oil, maybe the oil is that thick its given them a hardened coating

You asked on what basis and if I'd owned one, my experience is owning two and having family that fix them and also family that have sold them. I didn't mention profit as I wouldn't ever base my knowledge of a car on something like profit?

You said your family were traders and you'd had two. If you'd had two, and didn't like them without any real reason, it's more likely that you didn't have them long (thus the hatred being for £££ reasons).
You've not really mentioned why you hate them or why they are bad. Yes it's an opinion, but if it's not a constructive opinion then why share it on a thread where one is for sale?
I'm defending it because there's an substantial overload of people who always want to put someone off a car for (as far as we can establish thus far) no real reason.
I've never had any issues with what you describe. I once bought one that had a fooked engine and it was due to a bent pushrod causing damaged, which I diagnosed at the time was due to over adjusted clearances. The camshaft is just above the crank on the endura-e valencia engine (same as the HCS) and so the only way you'd know if there was ovalling would be if you stripped the block, which seems excessive, so if you mean the followers then they are easily and economically replaced if you can't put up with an inevitable prehistoric but bulletproof engine design.
Sparkies seizing on the head is not something Ford designed, but mother nature I'm afraid. Many, many, many models do this, easily solved by copperslip on the seats and good maintenance.
If we know one thing about cheaper Fords (Ka, Fiesta etc.), it is this: They are bought by people who, mostly, don't exactly have wallets deep enough to ensure they are well serviced. Considering most of the older designs will do no doubt 80k without a service is a positive not a negative
Tbh Fil, it's the 'Its crap because as new the engines weren't quiet' brigade that made me throw the towel in on selling cheap cars, as you're selling a £300 (yes, £300 - what people pay for a second hand sofa) car that's road legal for at least 4 months and would easily drive to russia and back without breaking down, yet people still complain...
I've reworked your first post to make this all worthwhile (as we've strayed away from the sale) to hopefully underline what a bargain this is. Some is assumption from squinting at the photo:
2001 registered Ford Ka 1.3
One lady owner from new (Zero former keepers)
10 Months + MOT
3-4 Months VED Tax
Blue with colour coded bumpers and door mirrors
Alloy Wheels
124k with some service history
Electric Windows
Climate Pack option (Air Conditioning etc.)
Heated Front Screen
CD Player
Clean bodywork with usual age related wear and tear
Needs some TLC and a HCV.
Parts are very cheap due to compatibility with most Ford models (fiesta, puma etc.)
Economical, cheap to insurance, ideal first car or spare car, very reliable.
£300 (or will be scrapped)

GLWTS £300 with T/T on any car and you'd expect a minger but this seems like a pretty decent example.
I genuinely didn't realise this was a for sale thread, apologies and feel free to delete my posts although today seems to be D-Day for the ka!

No worries Jordan it is a Genuine forsale thread with a bit of piss taking.
But plans may have changed. .... might keep it as a spare backup car.
And badj are you the Arthur daily of Wales, with your reworded add even I want to buy it!

Lol, there's always a positive way to look at most things, even if you resent it!
I would say that considering you can get what is a great little bargain like that for £300, and easily a 1.7 puma for about the same...
A bit of fiddling and maybe a good chuckle for £600
(attempts to breed inspiration into potential buyers...)

ha the puma idea had crossed my mine, as you can pick up one with mot for very little, but might aswell just run the puma and abuse that.
Cars all insurance swapped over, and the KA is now stored as a backup so no long forsale unless someone is really desperate for a run about!
