Default alloy wheel offset....?

my standard A class merc alloys are a 17x7 alloy with a 49mm offset ....I cant find the same from my car but ive found exactly the same alloys from a different model but with a 37mm offset. im I right with thinking they will stick out 12mm further rather than being set 12mm further in....?
