What size tyres for my 3dr lowered 20mm for 17x8 TSW Hocks.... Without cutting arch kit..!...?

Not much help, but I think you are limited, IIRC around 235 is the maximum size you can have.

Alot depends on the offset of the hocks mate, ie how low or high is the ET

Yep I have Goodyear 235s on the rear and no they won't fit without trimming. Its the camber shims they put them out about 20mm more. A 215 may be ok though.
The dia of the 235 is alot larger it's not just the width that puts the rears right up to the front of the arch. I could try a front which is a 215 on the rear and see how close it is if you like?

You won't go wrong with Goodyear Eagle F1's of any kind, preferably GSD3's (if you can still get them?), or assymetrics

Eagle F1's have always impressed me, I've had are other tyres that do a same/similar job in the dry... but the F1's performance in the wet is outstanding IMO.

Cheers,

i'd go for 215-40-17 or maybe a 225-35-17 Mat, Can't go far wrong with Michelin PS, but you'll pay for them, believe it or not, Kumho are a very capable tyre for the money.

I would say your limited to 215 mate due to the width of the wheel and the shims fitted straightening the wheel in the arch - you may even get a little rubbing at hard acceleration though

On the front of mine i have 205's and the rears are 217 .

Front wheels are 7j et30 and the rears are 8 j et30 .

Mine will be fitted with new rear springs in the next week , they wont catch the arches .

Tyre choice ,ive always used yokahama parada spec 2 ,they are excellent when warm but arse twitchie in the wet .

If your shims are say 10mm thick then your alloy offset would be the same as et30 so a 215 tyre would be best on the car .

See the above pic i have a fair amount of room above the rear tyre, infact the car looks jacked up .That pic was taken before the diff mount and bushes were fitted .

In that case then mate i think your rears will be fine as ive said above .

But you will need to have them front arches rolled as the 3 door bodykit over hangs the arches on the front by around 5mm .When i had 8j all round they caught the front so it was either have the wheels machined or get new ones hence why i now have my 7th set of wheels on the 3 door

EDIT!!! Just seen adde500 mention them shims are 20 mm , They would take the alloys to near escort cosworth offset which are et25 and arch catch on 3 doors all round . Im sure i had 205s all round on my ecos alloys.

Sorry to keep changing ,but them shims make a hell of a difference .

Im awake now

ET40 8j with a 215 tyre on the rear wth all your added bits ie diff mount, shocks etc will be fine . You should find the rear end dont squat .

When i fitted 17x8 revoloutions with 205's on my 3 door they lasted around 10 miles then i took them off as they just wreaked the arches .So really you have 3 options

1) trim the arches back and you may also have to trim the edge of the front bumper as mine also caught that, a pro would get it looking spot on ,or maybe you could fit another arch kit and keep yours safe ??

2)Have your front wheels machined to a different offset .

3)Remove the shims if there 20mm which would give you a little more room in the front arch

I spent hours on the phone to comp working out with them a nice size and looking wheel for the 3 door .These cars without cutting and messing about are hard to get a nice wheel on in 17/18 .Need anymore advice pm me your number and i will call you

Dave

When i had the ecos wheels, ET25 . Hit arches with 205's

comp 17 Et37 71/2 j ,These were spot on

Old style comp s,these were ET35 17 s by 7 1/7 j and were fine

And now i have 17x8 rear Et 30. 17x7 Et 30 front which are fine, but had to take a few mm off the kit/bumper
