You want an offset of between et42 and et50.
I'm using superleggeras in et42 but you'll struggle to find them in that offset, most will be et37.
They're great wheels, very strong and very light but they're not made anymore so if you buckle one replacements can be hard to come by.

Ran my Focus on my Image split rims...ET 20 15x7, slammed so it was scrapping, very "euro"
Now on 18x 7.5 Pro Lites, ET 40, it does scrub, but it looks cool imo. Shit offsets are the death of any cars look IMO

Hi guys I am new here and know nothing about cars lol!
I joined to get some info on winter tyres and perhaps buying a new set of used wheels too.
Reading this thread - what is an 'offset' etc?
Mine is a Focus 1.6GL Estate 2003 on a 52 plate. I think thats a Mark 1?

dont worry about all that offset rubbish. i was desperately looking for a set of focus RS wheels to go straight onto my mk1, but got put off by 2 things(even the price i was prepared to swallow(big bucks)). the first was the offsets, which like you i havnt really got a clue about and the 2nd was rubbing issues, whether that was because of the offsets or the extra clearance because the standard focus body differs from the RS. i still think the RS looks special, but as the focus is my missus's car it wasnt really worth it, but i still want it to look good, so i went onto ebay and got me a set of used wheels and tyres from an st170 which bolted straight on. i had to spend a little on a couple of tyres which was a good job because there was 2 that were strangely narrower than the standard size for a st170, 205 instead of 215!!??
i tried also to get a set of MP3 wheels off a focus sport, but these are rarer as i just guess st170's are crashed more often than sports.
dont worry too much about offsets, just go and look to see second hand st170 or MP3's, just takes a little patience.
tyre size will be 215/45/17, with a pressure of 34psi which gives a good confident ride

I 2nd Dieseldog!!
I recently got a set of MP3 17" wheels off Ebay. Paid £195 for them in the end, and came with 3 new tyres.
all were kerbed & marked, but I got them professionally refurbished for £235 & bought 2 new tyres for £110.
all in all I've spent £540 for a set of wheels that are effectively brand new with new tyres.
a new set of MP3 wheels are £600+ from Mr Ford, just for the rims, this is the way forward if you want to end up with a decent set of wheels for reasonable money

as said tho big wheels big wide tyres = good ride quality

hi mate ive got focus rs alloys on my 170 using 225/35/ZR18 conti contact sport
3 and they dont rub/scrub the arches what so ever but if you use the standard
225/40/ZR18s they wont rub but will scrub the arch lips on all 4 corners of the wings as they sit to tall in the arches

or you can use the rs reps like i had before i changed mine

i was running inovit rays 8x18 40 offset withh 225/40/18 tyres and they rubbed not horrendous but bad enough .if id dropped to 215/35/18 there would have been no issues ..anywayvthe wheels and car are up for grabs as some monkey bent it last wk....ill post pics here later
