why dont you just spend an extra 10 or 15 quid per tyre and get a decent tyre instead?
toyo's
falken
pirelli
or yoko ps2
are only about that much more!

Not as sharp as the branches of the tree you could find yourself wrapped around Herman... they're proper gash in the wet. Take a look at Federal SS-595 cause they're a decent, cheapish tyre in my experience..

Had them in the past during my skint student days, thought they were pretty acceptable to be honest. Definately didn't find them dangerous! Although the most powerful car I had them fitted to was a 130bhp rover!

Used to run them on my TDDI Focus daily runner, never again. Kept deflating when you hit an average sized pot hole, shite in the wet ( ok so I don't drive that slow, ever lol) and as said the side walls split.

i had them on my old merc 19" wheels i was not looking for grip as it was a lowrider merc and i found they were pretty good for the price very good wear rate and the tyre fitters say they work much better on bigger cars i.e 5 series bmw's.

If you can't afford decent brands! Why not buy part worns? I've just got 2 firestones for Ł40 total with 7mm tread!

I've probably done around 20000 miles on a set of Nankangs, the only problem is the noise, but these are 235/35-19.

i've heard enough trouble story's about nankang so that idea will go.
i've now set my mind on a set of toyo proxes t1-r.
i've found a set for a good deal. so i'll think i'll go for them.
only negative thing i've heard so far about them is that they make a little bit much noise!!!!!

anyone?????

Nankangs used to be fucking lethal, but some of the newer tyres they do are actually ok.

Personally if you are after a cheap tyre though I would look at prada spec 2, or Toyota T1R

With the T1R being the better wet tyre of the two, so depends a bit on what use it gets.

I use toyo T1r's, never really noticed the noise. Pretty good tyres though.

As chip says the latest variations are a lot better, the NS2's are ok

Ive got some on my daily golf, 17"'s with a slight stretch (i know i know) and they are spot on infact when pushed in the rain or dry ive had no problems at all and they've dealt with the bad pot holes too.

I wonder how many of the people who slate the Nankangs have actually used them themselves.
I've had the Toyos earlier, and they wore out far too quick IMO. I really dont see the point in spending a fortune on top end tyres for going to work and the shops...
As I said, my Nankangs have lasted about 20000 miles, they have been on roads in 8 different countries in all sorts of weather and on all sorts of surfaces. And have done the job just fine.
How many of you ditch finder commenting people can say you have got this much experience with them...? Or are you just jumping on the bandwagon because of the name and you heard a mate down the pub said they were shit...

Or more to the point have you driven them recently, as the new ones are a LOT better than the old shit was.
