Default Heated windscreen

Hi

I have a 2000 Focus Saloon ghia. It did not have a heated windscreen but I got a crack in it recently and when I got it changed (free on my insurance) the only windscreen they had in stock to replace it with was a heated one.
Which put me thinking - would it be a big deal to get it working? I rang a few ford garages and all seem to be unsure, eventually saying no (I think they say this in case I call into them with it!)

Has anyone done this before?

Thanks

Delboy

you would need to have a look at the loom behind the dashboard to see if it had the connections there to plug it straight in. if not you would need to cut into the loom and it becomes a big pain in the arse.

probably easiest way to check is to look behind the blanking panel of where the windscreen switch would be. and see if there are any unoccupied connecters there.

if not i wouldnt bother

Default screen

it is a simple circuit to install if the wiring is not there, mount a relay either near the battery or the screen connections run a live via a fuse to the relay and then to the screen get the switch from Ford run a wire form the switch to the relay make sure the switch is illuminated and fed via the ignition switch so you cant leave it on by mistake.
