Default Escort RS Turbo 200+bhp

I have an Escort RST running just under 200bhp at the moment, I have a power engineering stage 1 engine and stage 3 head, quaife gearbox and ATB diff etc. so quite a strong car to take over 200bhp.

The owner previous to me replaced the turbo with a brand new one only about 20k ago, but didnt bother with a hybrid so its still a standard unit, meaning the most boost I can run is around 1bar. Im now looking at getting more power out of the car but dont really want to be bothering with a hybrid turbo and push the car upto 18psi or more.

Im looking to increase the power without increasing the boost. I have a double sized intercooler and a cam in mind but was wondering about water injection? would this increase power at the same boost or just enable me to run higher boost without detonation? Not very knowledgeable on water injection so any sugeestions are welcome!

Hello mate. Water Boost would only allow you to run at a higher boost while preventing detonation, it wouldnt have any performance gains. Is your Rst a Series 1 or 2 mate?

only way your gonna get more bhp is by turning the boost up!

u don't say what other mods u got ?

ive got :
chip
cam
stainless exhaust
k&n filter
hybrid turbo running 18 psi
chargecooler
all this make 213 bhp

so your not gonna gain anything without upping the boost!
as said above water injection is only to aid detonation !

yeh thats what i thought water injection would do..

other mods include:

ahmed bayoo chip
-31 actuator
pipercross cone filter
full magnex system

standard intercooler at the minute but soon to be a double sized pace one. would you recommend a charge cooler instead / aswel as?

I think i may go with a cam, my main drawback is although the turbo is nearly new it is a standard one. what kind of boost could i run on this setup with the stage 3 head safely once i have good enough cooling?

have a look at the grs twinpass cooler m8..

http://www.grsmotorsport.co.uk/ersts2intercoolers.html

if you want more power without more boost you will have to put in a new camkit(advice a piper 285t2 with adjustable wheel, good value for money), the head will be a good match for this cam.. this will help a lot over the exhausted(probably) old cam.. when you get a bigger intercooler on too you will get over 200 on the boost you are running..
