Can anyone tell me if an escort 4x4 box goes straight in a sierra 4x4?.
Have been told its not that simple. Cheers.

 

I don't see any differences between Escort Cossie and Sierra Cossie 4x4 gearbox.

 

escort box will go into sierra,but early sierra 4x4's box had a diffrent rubber propshaft joint, but it will swap over, also if i remember right the reversing light switch is different again straight swap just to add it is a cossie sierra 4x4 your talking about

 

should be straight swap i had to change reverse light switch but that was it.

Also if i right in thinking the Escort MT75 gearbox had a revised syncro on 1st-2nd gear

 

Yes is a cossie 4x4.
Only asking because i had a very clean low mile one but who i thought was a good friend told me it wouldn't fit,and swaped me for a sierra one witch looks like its done 200k.

on the back of the box its not the rubber joint thats different there are two types of output shaft and one is longer that the other. So this might cause you some trouble.

 

as long as it is an MT75 4X4 its direkt fitt too engine. you can even put a MT 75 on it as an 2wd - from Scorpio .

 

id say you mate has done you out of a good box that you could of used, it would of fitted just swap a few simple parts that can come off the old one. ring him and get it back m8!
