help!mondeo mk2 2litre starts fine but rev past 2
k runs like a bag of shit new plugs fitted still no joy.thought could be coil pack or idle speed valve.any help would be welcomed

 

Get a code reader on it first of all, this could save hours by pin pointing the problem straight away.

 

can you hear a air leak around the the back of the coil pack when you turn it off?? If so, have a look underneith the coil pack and you should see a rubber t-peice thats part of the breather system...it perishes, splits and fucks the whole job up, quite common on them

 

think we have traced it to the plugs put the old ones back in and ran fine typical

 

plus a dodgy no 1 plug lead.common fault from what i can gather

 

lol ive just re-read your 1st post...I took it as saying that it started fine but, rev'd passed 2k as in sitting at 2k on idle lol Yeah, running like bag of wank under load is normaly traced back to the HT circuit.
