mk3 escort windcreen wipers told me where to go this morning
hi guys, i have a mk3 escort ghia which is an absolute buty - all origonal 45k etc. i went to put the windscreen wipers on this morning and they decided to tell me to **** off and went all over the shop, the drivers side wiper didnt really do a lot and then the pass. side one went down too far towards the bonnet. i faft around with em for about half an hour, the moter is working and under the bonnet i can see the metal arm that goes from one wiper to the other moving fine and when i lift the wipers up in the air they do seem to move a bit but they just have no go on the screen. i was thinking that maybe something where the wipers connect tothe body of the car ( the round bits just under the screen) may have worn down i dunno, it was meger icey when i turned em on - if they were frozen to the screen coul this have caused the motor to turn without moving the wipers and then when they got loose they just f'd up. since playing around with em they dont move atall unless i lift them up or push hard on the lower part of the wiper arms then i can feel bits moving. i thought i felt a small electrical shock coming offthem but not too sure
ANY IDEAS??? Help me! ! ! !

ok
firstly i think the technical term, as you already mentioned, is theyre F*CKED
Sounds like summits popped off underneath, or possibly the arm on the motor has spun round.
Right, get the wiper rack out, VERY easy.
Under the bonnet, you'll see the motor next to the fuse box, pull the black cover off, remove the wiring multi plug, undo the two 10mm bolts, then remove the wiper arms (2x13mm nuts), then remove the black plastic caps on the stems, and there is two (i think) 24mm?? nuts, undo those, give them a little push inwards as they are in rubber bungs, and the whole assembly comes out
Let me know when uve removed it/if u get stuck

AT the base of the wiper arms is a littbe black cap that covers the very bottom of the arm. Underneath this is a 13mm nut that holds the wiper arm to the spindle. It may have come loose. They are splined so make sure you get the position of the arm more or less spot on before tightening it up.
