Hi people my series 2 rs turbo seems to be leaking water from somewhere. The problem is if you drive the car hard it i find a load of water on the gearbox and brake servo and metering head but the strange part is that i cant see the leak anywhere under the bonnet only seems to leak when car is driven hard and also if i leave the cap loose on the header tank its fine but i cant keep on driving the car with the cap loose. Heater matrix hose is dry and i have had the thermostat and gasket replaced and also the core plug. Its something on the passenger side any ideas thanks
just got to keep your eyes open dude it could be a small split in one of the pipes going to thermostat housing, and are you sure its not coming from the thermostat housing the gasket may not have a good seal?

hey mate
sounds like one of those annoying ones. If ur saying it only seems to happen when the car is being driven hard, have you run it up to temperature, and then tried giving it some revs from under the bonnet?
there is other ways aswell. Pressure test the cooling system?
Or if you cant do that, you could try this as a lest resort although i dont like suggesting it, disconnect the fan switch plug, then run it up to temperature, and it will get that little bit hotter when the fan shgould of cut in, and try to boil at which point the pressure in the system will be higher and you are more likey to find the leak. Be careful though if you leave it too long it will boil over. It shouldnt cause any harm as such as you wont be leaving it to boil over for a long time, just be careful though?
let me know if you want anymore help mate

okay this a first looked under the bonnet and saw a few drips on the vacum pipe coming off the amal valve and it seems to be leaking from the fan switch sender unit can something that small cause this
you can get a flarecent liquid to go in the rad system, then all you use is a black light and look for the purple marks let by the now florecent leaking water. hope this helps
