ive just had a ashley manifold fitted to my 2.0 fiesta si 1995 m reg and now my starter motor will not fit, ive been told about a gear reduction starter motor are these actually shorter? i need one asap so does anybody have one or know of a shop? ive got a BC gearbox (i think) and its a 2.0 using a 1.6 flywheel

I'd have thought an XR2 starter motor should fit...thats the smallest of the standard Starters on BC boxes.

pornstarr, do you know if there is a difference between the flywheels though compared to an xr2 and a zetec? i will look into it if i cant get one tomorow!

 

If you've got a 1.8 zetec flywheel, I think it should be all good!

I've had a 1.6 CVH fly and my 1.8 Zetec flywheel next to each other, and they look identical!

There's also one or two people on xrtwo.com using 1.8zetec fly in their ZVH and 2.0 zetec engines, and retaining the XR starter motor! (As the 2.0 fly doesnt fit the BC box, and the CVH flywheel wont work with the zetec CPS)

i have this same setup and the original starter motor from the si fits fine at the front of the BC box, all i had to do was remove the rear heat shield from the starter and cut off the threaded bolts which hold the heat shield to the back of the motor
