1.8 zetec into mk4 escort???
hi looking for some information on putting a 1.8 zetec into a mk4 escort 1.6 carb, if i decide to keep the cabriolet, thats what i wanna do.
will the zetec fit using existing mounts? if not what engine mounts wid i need? or would i need to get custom ones made, i want to run it on either twin 40s or bike carbs, which ever is easier to get my hands on, so will i need to fit a feul pump and what 1 would be best for the job.
also wondering would the gearbox fitted to my 1.6cvh fit straight onto the zetec block?
and what ignition system should i use to get the spark to the plugs? if im running carbs, would i be able to use the edis system or is there something else i can use?
any other information you have that could help would be greatly appreciated

Hi there mate!
Me and my mate put a 2lt zetec into his mk4 cabby and the power f**king awsome. Have u already got your 1.8 zetec because if not i would advise u to go streight for the 2ltr. On the 2lt the water pump needs changing for an escort on because the 2ltr one runs the wrong way also the end needs modifying to acept the smaller water pipes. i have some pics to help u with this if need be. The sump and oil pick up need swapping for the escort zetec ones aswell. The engine mount will fit streight on but fouls one of the inlet manifold studs,depending on the manifold u plan to use this can be a problem. We used mk4 xr3i efi injection setup with one of ian howell fiesta frenzys conversion plates and just missed the stud out.
Use the cvh alternator bracket but u need to get the v groove pully off the zetec and use an RS1800 alternator belt, and u need the water pump v groove pully aswell. U will need a cvh flywheel and open the hole up an extra 0.5mm so the bolts fit. Thats the basic jist of things , sounds complicated but relatively easy to do. If u get stuck just drop us a PM.
