Mileage stinketh on 2002 Taurus SEL
My father bought a 2002 Taurus SEL (not the Duratec engine) about ten days ago. We topped the tank and then after he drove 91 miles it took 8.64 gallons to top it off again. That works out to a paltry 10.53 MPG!! He doesn't drive far and often goes only a mile or two, parks a while and goes another mile or two. His big run is 1.5 miles each way to the train station.
I am sure the car is not going into a closed loop cycle but is that enough driving to warm up the car? He will take a trip to CT next week (43 miles each way on I-95) and start with a full tank. I hope when he refills the tank he does a lot better than the MPG he's getting!!!
