Hi. I'm a newby to ford forums, normally hang out on www.e36coupe.com as I'm into BMW's. However my g/f has a StreetKA and has knocked the mirror off (clever her...), so it is currently dangling on the wire.

I've looked at replacement and it seems you can only buy the housing as a complete set (rather than the component parts of the assembly. What I'd like to try is to buy the basic KA mirror (FINIS 1108132) and retrofit the electric mirror assembly and painted mirror cover from her damaged one. The basic mirror is the same, save for the movement is manual. On GCAT the part numbers are 17682A and B which suggests they are exactly the same save for the internals.

Has anyone tried this?
