Default Possible bad earthing for headlight???

Hello peeps

Iv notcied on my 2Wd Saph that my drivers side headlight goes out time to time and then comes back on itself after a bit.

Now it used to do this first but recently its been off for 2 weeks, i know the bulb still works as iv tried it on the other side. Last night whilst driving along it just came on again, this is after 2 WEEKS of not turning on. I parked the car up, turned the headlights off and then back on again after a few seconds. Sure enough it was still working and i had both headlights.

Came back to the car half an hour later and then it just went out again.

Its no point in replacing the bulb as thats not the problem. Its also only on the drivers side headlight and not the other.

So what am i looking at here? A bad earth comes to mind but im not really electrically minded so not too sure where to look. Any ideas on what i should look for or replace? Could something be loose along the line. if so which wire?

This headlight having a mind of its own is pissing me off as i know il get pulled by the fuzz 1 of these days and get shafted whilst not being able to do much about it.

Cheers.

Take the plug off the back of the bulb and see if it's corroded and give it a clean with a bit of sandpaper or something might just be a bit of rust in there

No could be just conecting every now and then when you go over a bump or something i had a problem like that on my back light took the plug off and it had abit of shit it there that was making it come on and off when it felt like it cleaned it out with a very small file and its been fine since just have a look and see if there is any rust in there.

Ok ......... after taking Antony's advice and checking the plug on the back of the bulb i have noticed that it looks pretty new. There certainly aint any rust in it and to be honest it wasnt even that dirty.

But still no joy, so any more idead on what could be causing it to have a mind of its own???
