2000 x reg st 200. Over-revs between gear change, will rev up to 4500 rpm .
has anyone got any ideas on how to cure ?..

 

Get a lighter foot !!!!

My st tends not to drop revs hardly between changes. Have you done any mods?, you could try resetting the ecu, remove fuses 4 and 11 for an hour. Drive car in varying styles and the ecu will relearn and adjust what it can!!
