how much should the pistons pertrude the block on the 1.6/1.8/2.0 zetec engines.
ive heard all different stories.
as far as i can tell my 1.8 pertrudes 1-2 mm, also my 2.0 pertruded 1-2mm but ive heard stories that they shouldnt pertrude on caertain cc versions ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????????

 

they should all protrude above the block deck to some degree.
I've only actually dealt with 1.8 - on that one i was seeing around 0.4mm
1-2mm is way too much, the headgasket is less than 2mm compressed, so the pistons would clout the head at tdc..!

 

yeah im thinking they wasnt 1-2mm, think they were more like .5 to 1mm now i thinhk about it.
