As above fitted 2 new switches and it still flickers only on tickover and only after about a 15-20 minute run ??Checked for dirt on the valve and so on and the engine had a full rebuild 20,000 miles ago and a new oil pump was fitted ?? I aint running the car till this is resolved. If i get gauges etc for checking the oil pressure where exactly is the point for checking the pressure, also what should the pressure be? Any ideas folks as the car is still running and sounding sweet>> Any help - very grateful. I will probably install a oil pressure gauge once this is fixed..
Has anyone else had this problem..

 

if you T off from where the oil light switch bolts to the block is you should be able to get a good reading from there,tick over should be around the 25lbs IIRC.


so it's ok when cold? if so try using a different oil?

A mate had a similar prob when the car was being driven the oil light stayed off but when ideling was flickering turned out to be the oil pump

 

sounds like either oil pump or wrong oil, is it ok from cold and the problem only starts when hot, and how much oil was it using?
