Default Escort Rev Counter

I’ve got a 1.4 Escort MkVb and it cam with a picture of a car instead of a rev counter. I went to the scrappy and got a dash pod with a rev counter in it, took the rev counter out and put it in my dash pod. The rev counter works but the problem is that it reads double what it should read. Is there a specific rev counter that I need for it to read correctly or is there any thing I can do to make the one I’ve got work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Nick

Rev counter from a wasted spark ignition equipped car usually read double if used in a traditional distributor setup.

Cars with a wasted sark ignition have a double coil instead of a distributor. One coil always gives two sparks at the same time of which only one has any purpose. Because of this, in a traditional distributor system the coil gives sparks twice as often as compared to a wasted spark setup. The rev counters are different for these two setups. The easiest solution depends on the management used.

Sounds like it doesn't have the original clocks anymore. All S2 rev meters are not interchangeable. The 90spec efi clocks also will do this for sure.
There is also an adjustment screw in the rev meter. It's a bit on it's limits usually to try to double the reading.

Does anyone know if ford made a rev counter for the 1.4 cvh engine? If they did does anyone know the part number of it?
