Default fiesta brakes

i have a 96 new shape fiesta and the brakes are crape the pads have been changed and the brakes bleed, but they are still crap, i have noticed that on the front drivers side that where the pads rub on the engine side of the disk is not the same as the passenger side (only seems to be gripping about an inch if the disk), i have dismantled the breke assembly and re built it using copper ease on the pabs etc . but still crap brakes help me plz
