I brought a mk6 escort 1.8td 2 months ago and the other day my airbag light started flashing.It flashes 4 times then pauses n keeps on doing it,does this mean anything(is it a fault code)? If i can find out where it has gone wrong I can sort it as we deal with airbags at work.Your help would be much appreciated.

 

I think four flashes indicates a faulty pre-tentioner.

They had big problems with the yellow connectors under the trims by the outside of each seat.

You want to try disconnecting these and putting a small amont of vaseline (ooh er) in the connector block and reconnecting.

Make sure you have the battery disconnected for about 10 - 15 mins before you do this or you could get an air bag in the face.

Sorry but my car aint got seatbelt pretensioners only a drivers airbag, Any other ideas the light has gone off again but give it couple of days it will be back on.

 

i agree with onion - code four is seatbelt pretensioners.. have a look under both seats anyway, for yellow connectors. Most four code problems are attributable to pretensioner connections.

 

sorry there is no wireing going anywhere near the seats my missus has a gti with them on so i have seen where the cables would run. any other ideas other than sell the car before it comes back on.
