Default Poor man's Cosworth ARB?

Hello all,
As you may recall, I am trying to fit a pair of Sapphire front spindles into a Merkur XR4Ti. With all your help, I have learned a good deal. I now have an idea that I would like to run by you all.
Background:
1)I have been told that the Ford Grenada/Merkur Scorpio TCAs are the same part as on the Sierra Cosworth (the Sapphire spindles I have use pinch bolts, but I'm going to assume that that is the only difference from the Sierra Cosworth TCAs).
2)The ARB on the Merkur Scorpio is 27.5MM thick, very close to the Cosworth dimensions.

It would be very expensive for me to source a real Cosworth ARB here in the States, so I'm thinking of using one from the Scorpio/Grenada. One possible problem that I forsee the the length of the "arms" on the Scorpio ARB. I have had an XR4Ti ARB and a Scorpio ARB side-by-side, and the Scorpio unit is both wider and has longer "arms".

The extra width should be no problem when used with the Sapphire TCAs, but will the length work? Has anyone had a Cosworth or Sapphire ARB next to a Grenada/Scorpio ARB? If so, how do the dimensions compare?
Thanks and regards,
David L.

if you put the scorpio ARB on the car it would proberly take to much castor off the front suspention by pushing the front wheels to far forwards

Thanks again, nicksaph,
I received the Sapphire arms in the mail yesterday, and compared them to a pair of stock XR4Ti arms. It looks like Scorpio ARB is probably too wide, as well as too long as you noted, to work with the TCAs I received. The rough dimensions of the two arms were comparable. The inner bushing to outer bushing length seemed to be the same. I also have a Merkur Scorpio arm that is much longer than either of the other arms.

One interesting thing I noted; the inner pivot bushing on the Sapphire TCA is bigger than the Merkur XR4Ti bushing. The measured width of the stock Sapphire bushing was 32.22mm, while an XR4Ti Powerflex bushing I have is 30.32mm. The bolt hole was the same size at 10mm. The Merkur Scorpio requires a 12mm bolt, though. I looked in the Burton Power catalog and they did not have a separate listing for the Scorpio/Granada inner bushing. They claim it is the same one as the Sapphire/Sierra Cosworth (et al). Is the Burton catalog just not specific enough, or incorrect?

have a look at steering and suspension and click on compression struts you can use these so you can remove the anti roll bar and so you can adjust the castor angle of the wheel.
