Hello everyone, I bought some spindles for my Merkur and I would like to figure out exactly which year, make and model car that they originally came off of. I am hoping you all can help me with this.
The spindles have part numbers cast into the front of them. Here are the part numbers from the right side spindle:
V 88 BB -
3 K170 - AA
+ 24527 +
The "BB" might be a "88", it is hard to tell.
I was led to believe that the spindles came off of a Sapphire. The big concern I have is that the spindles have pinch bolts for the TCAs. The Merkur and I believe other Sierras, do not use pinch bolts for the Arms. I knew I would need new Arms for these spindles, but I must make sure I order the correct ones.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
David L.

Thank you, Nicksaph. I think that narrows it down quite a bit. The spindles came with a pair of unattached four piston calipers. Assuming that they are the correct calipers, that may mean that the spindles came from a 2WD Sapphire. Also included were a built set of strut cartridges.
I am sure I will need to order TCAs in the future, and this help will me help me a great deal when ordering.
So, assuming it is a later Sapphire, what should I tell the parts counter when I order so that they know what I'm talking about? I know I won't find them locally here in the States. All parts will need to be imported so I better get the orders right the first time!
Thanks for all you help

as far as i am aware mate all sapphire cosworths (2 and 4wd) had the same type of TCAs ford don't list them anymore so you would need to get them from a motor factors and don't forget you would need the pinch bolt and nut as they are a special size.
