Smokin' & Leakin'
I have a 4x4 sapphire that keeps blowing the dipstick out, leaking oil onto the clutch and pushing oil up into the distributor. The engine has been completely rebuilt 3000 miles ago including rebore (using torque plate), new pistons & rings, refurbished head with new stem seals & bronze valve guides, everything lightened & balenced, grp A head set ect. The car has a group A breather system which has been cleaned out and checked for blockages. The only item on the engine that wasn't striped was the turbo, which is a hybrid T34. Is it possible that the turbo is pressurising the sump in some way as it only happens under load/boost?. Any one had the same problem and have a fix for this? It also smokes very slightly on the over run at high revs but don't they all do this? Current oil is a 0w/50 compared to the 10/40 we were using - this has cured some of the problem but not completely.
I'm beginning to suspect a damaged valve stem seal but don't fancy taking the head off again.
