I need a bit of help setting up distributer, I have number 1 set to tdc on compression, is it correct that I need rotor arm pointing to number 1

 

Yep. then you need the firing order 1-4-2-5-3-6 in the direction of rotation of the dizzy.

 

there may even be a scribed mark on the side of the dizi that you point the middle of the rotor arm at for no1

 

So with all that lined up, when dizzy is in does number 1 point to the bulkhead

 

ive not seen one for 35 yrs is there a scribed line on top of the dizi body where the cap sits if so thats no1. i just had a quick look online there saying no1 is the first cylinder looking into the engine bay on the right bank nearest the rad stood in front looking at the windscreen. this does ring a bell. your better of looking up a workshop manual.

 

Yeah I’ve got number one on the block and it rocking on compression, just wanted the rough position of distributer as it can be put in in different positions, I have googled some pics I think it’s all ok
