Default Brake servo problem.

Hi everybody, so i got my 1988 Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth out for 1st run of the year today. Lasted around 5 miles before the brake pedal went hard and I lost braking power..
Never had this happen before, also the brake fluid came up from min to over max and my hand brake light has come on and is stopping on even though I have drained off the excess brake fluid..
I haven't put any fluid in it was ok before I set off.
Now the wires were hot and do look like there has been some wear because of this, I have ordered a turbo heat shield to stop this from happening but I don't know if this is a electrical problem with the servo or mechanical.. Has anybody come across this before?
Thanks
