I have an 1990 XR3i CVH EFi and this is hanging in the engine, I have looked up the part number 89AB12A019AA and some say it is an Ignition Control Module and some say it is Fuel Pressure High Pressure Sensor, can someone confirm which it is or whether they are the same thing and the symptons if it is on its way out and whereabouts it should be mounted?

Thanks everyone!

Its essentially a coilpack capacitor. Just stops electrical interference

As above it’s a 20micro farrad capacitor. It mounts to the coil bracket.

it stops electrical noise mainly on the crank and cam sensors.
Some fords did away with this and used a twisted pair of conductors to block noise ( black top Zetec ). Others used a metal shielding cable. The st220 has a wire braid over the sensor wires then tin foil wrapped around that.

if it’s not earthed ie not bolted to the engine then it’s doing nothing any way. I can see the the insulation is damaged that is a fire hazard. If it’s touching anything and earthing out it will cause all sorts of problems.

Thanks for that! Will probably order another one without rusty brackets and get it mounted where it should be and insulate that wire!

Thanks for the advice!
