Thoughts on pistols and rods?
Evening all it's been way to long.
Been a grown up buying property and all the boring stuff.
I put the fiesta on the road this year with escort rs turbo engine in. Been sat for the best part of 10 years did everything full service e really run in and was going great.
Sadly a good friend of mine passed this week and I'm arranging a bit of an old school procession to follow the Hurst . The last run I went on the plugs were clapping a bit so Wednesday I decided to give her some tlc.
Cleaned the breathers tested compressions changed plugs.
On the test run the bottom end let go in a big way rod and big end number three smashed the startmotor off and cut the sump in half. So fortunate a friend has a spare block and I have 2 weeks to the funeral.
Question is these blocks are going to be rocking horse in ten years time so should I put steel rods and forged pistons in knowing that I run about 25 psi boost and although treasured does sit in the workshop for long periods of time.
And if so can anyone recommend a brand I've been out the game for such along time I've lost touch. I have since made some very nice purchases and promise I will get on the board a bit more now life is calming down a little.
I would appreciate some opinions.
