Default 1600 pinto waterpump

i am currently building a jago jeep running a 1600 pinto..i purchased engine which had previously been running with electric cooling fan..I now want to fit original cooling fan but the pulley on water pump has a large nut on front face which wont budge (nut is larger than centre hole on fan) ..Can someone advise if nut comes off,or do i need a different water pump....????

Have you got a picture?

A lot of viscous fans are a left hand thread and undo the opposite way to normal.

Yup, I have a 2L pinto in my MK and it definitely has a left hand thread, 21-28 Nm
