Default Cosworth Cutting out when cold!!

Hi Guy's,

I've got a problem with my car. When i start it from cold it will hunt (rev up and down) and then cut out unless i drive it for 1-2 minutes and then its fine.

I've cleaned the ISCV and checked its getting power and all seems well.

Any ideas??

I have the same problem, and it's always done it, which is annoying.

I think the valve is faulty, but it's hard to find the original ones and unless new, it's likely to have the same issue.

A few years ago, I got an aftermarket one, but this was worse than the original, as it run too fast, I figured the springs were not of the correct specification, but even messing around with them, it still would not work right and so I put the original back on.

Is the idle 100% stable once warm? does it dip at all? If so then the main throttle body butterfly wants opening a touch to support the base idle speed with a touch more air.

Mine's exactly the same. won't idle at all when cold, but after a minute with my foot on the throttle keeping it at about 700 - 1000 rpm, it's fine, if still a little lumpy. Once fully warm though, it idles perfectly.

Do not adjust the throttle stop screw the base idle is adjusted via the idle by pass air bleed screw
