Default Correct emissions for mfi xr3i

Hi can someone tell me the correct gas analyser readings to set up the fuel mixture on my
89 xr3i MFI escort?

A garage I am going to is willing to set the mixture and idle for me as it is now out and idling high/too lean or rich since fixing all air leaks on the engine but the mechanic says he doesn't know the exact CO% it should be at running temp.
On the mot test last week it was reading at 1.26% CO with 377HC

Aim for around 1.5%

Bare in mind you want everything else to be in check before you set this (timing etc all set correctly)

Thanks HAZ
Yeah everything is right with the engine now I've spent a lot of time on it but the previous owner had it set before fixing anything.
So if around 1.5 is where I need to be would the fact it's running at around 1.25 make enough of a difference that if feels like it's under fueling? Because when I'm in lower gears it just feel like it wants to go and splutters a bit but is fine cruising at 30+ and also the idle is too high.

Set the idle correctly before going near the CO.

.25% will make a marginal difference. Sounds like something else isnt right if its spluttering under 30 tho
