Depends what type of racing.

But with a tank that small, you'd need to be getting into some shapes before surge should be an issue.

Unless the tank is 1" tall and completely flat lol

its a hillclimb car,my mate carl at force racing has altered my 4 gallon tank and made me a swirl pot but i have been given this 4 litre tank which i'm gonna fit in the engine bay so it simplifies the fuel system somewhat if i can get away without using a swirl pot. being an old fart all this technology is new to me. thanks for the input

A swirl pot is only needed where the main tank is of bad design for racing.

If the main tank is a good design, then a swirl pot is completely pointless.
