2003 1.6 Focus Smoking and Oil in Cylinders
Hi all, new here: unfortunately it's a problem that's brought me here. I recently took a chance on a 2003 Focus that had sat for a while. It drives perfectly - has just over 100k on the clock but it's incredibly tight, starts easily and pulls well through every gear.
Took it for an MOT and got a call to say they can't test it because it's pumping out smoke. Got it home and pulled the plugs and they're all oily. No mayo in the oil - no oil slick floating on the coolant in the expansion tank either.
Thinking it's probably piston rings or stem seals, though I'd expect the engine to run badly if it was rings - and for only one or two, not all cylinders to be effected.
Really just wondering if there's anything simple it could be or if there's any known faults with these engines that could point to a likely cause. Sorry if it's a bit wordy, just wanted to makes sure I've covered everything! Cheers.
