mondeo breaking and boot warning lights

mondeo breaking and boot warning lights
Hi All,
very new to this site but have been recommended by a good friend.
well here goes.
on my ford mondeo 07 Ghia 2.0 when I press my break pedal, switch my lights on or put the car in reverse the warning light comes on the dash saying luggage compartment is open, I can also hear a vibration noise coming from the boot (I think its the latch). the boot isn't actually open though. I have been told that it might be something to do with water damage or earth wire but not to sure what to start looking at. and well as for Ford they want to charge me £105 just to look and diagnose the problem.
