Default This doesnt look right



V reg 2 litre petrol focus,not starting.it's getting fuel and a spark but struggling to fire,no codes are showing on a bluepoint scanner.anybody got any ideas or is it just the left cam in the above picture is out slightly and its slipped on the belt.

the picture was taken at tdc,looks like the left cam has slipped. Do you say that valves will be bent slipping by that much?

Hard to say. I know they run very close normally so I'd be preparing for the worst. I use a little camera on a stick through the spark plug holes to check if there is any evidence of contact.

Pull the exhaust manifold off the front of the engine you will get a decent view of the valves from there

I'm not a mechanic but I have changed many zetec & other cam belts & noticed that the alignment slot on the left can is out about 10degrees anticlockwise at tdc they should be parralell.If you havnt got an alignment tool usually ape ice of 6mm bar should do.

time it back up and do leak test, you will soon see if it's bent valves.
