Hi, I have a starting problem with my 2004 Fiesta 1.6 hot or cold. The engine starts on the first attempt but then stalls after a few seconds, then on the second attempt the engine starts & runs at fast idle but the throttle pedal is dead. After switching off on the third attempt the engine starts & performs normally until I have to stop & then start again. Sometimes it will start normally all day other times it will just be the initial start in the morning other times it will do it every time I have to start the engine. It feels like a faulty relay but which one? I have checked the Haynes manual but it doesn't list the relays individually. Which means I will have to test them one by one. It could be something else altogether. Just wondered if anyone has had this problem & could help.

The electric throttle pedal and body give lot of issues on these. Get a diagnostic check done and go from there.

 

Thanks have run the tests & no fault codes are showing. Also no fault message showing for the electric throttle.

 

What scanner did you use? It needs to be a Ford specific one as generic units often won't pick up some Ford only DTC's.


A live data test when the problem is there would be handy too.
