Hi all,
I am in the process of converting my Escort cabriolet to a Turbo by dropping a Series 2 engine and loom into it.
Has anyone done this?
I have noticed a nozzle on the side of one of the ECU's. I'm assuming a pipe connects to this but where does it connect to from the ECU?
Any help and advice on this or any other RS tips would be appreciated as I want to get this done ASAP.
Cheers
Dave

the map on ecu is map sensor input so needs plumbing to the inlet manifold,
would be better if you could fit complete loom but is alot of work
you really need it set up by a tuner when its done!!!!
where abouts are you??

I am in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.
I am replacing the loom aswell as the engine due to the two looms being different. Makes life easier in the long run.
I'm looking forward to the grin factor when its all done.
Cheers

yea the pipe that comes off the ecu goes to the inlet manifold, its the pipe you plumb your boost gauge and dump valve into, and as long as youve got every thing and theyre all the right bits and 13,15,17mm spaners its pretty stright forward.
The worst bit is swapping the loom and if youve got a rst loom its easy coz you dont need to cut any thing, (and i found it was quicker to strip the whole interior out coz theres wires for the hand brake, fuel gauge and the fuel pump that run under there) but still take you time with it and make sure you get it right, coz if you dont you'll be there for ages trying to find the fault and in the end it'll be some thing silly (I know i wired the starter motor up wrong and luckily it was the first thing i checked)
And its pretty stright forward, you need to drill some holes to mount the ecu's, fuel filter and mettering head, the fuel lines need modding, i'm still using the standard xr fuel pump and tank so they dont need swapping (unless its efi)
Hope this little lot helps ya

After takeing it apart discovered it had no head gasket in it and it warpped the head so cadly the cam wouldnt turn!!!!

Scary. I do have the lads guarantee that the engine is in good nick but I'd rather be 100% sure. I don't want the car off the road too long after spending 2 years minting it before I could drive it.
