How spooky my names baz and ive got a s1 cab turbo!!!
Anyway stick a plug into you king lead that comes from the coil and make sure youve got a spark there, if so the theres nowt wrong with the ecu.
Check the rest of the leads like this and if the theres no spark on all of them then it could be the dizzy but if youve got a spark on some of the it could be a cracked distributor cap, dodgy leads or you might have too bigger gap on the plug to create a spark!!!
If ya havent got anthing comin out of the coil the yes it could be a dodgy ecu but i'd check all the connections and have a look at the alarm and immob first,
Hope this helps fellow s1 cabby turbo owner
If ya need any more help look for me at www.fordsport.netrino.co.uk coz i hard use passion ford

Hi all,

I am just about to convert my MK4 Cabriolet into a Turbo by dropping a series 2 motor and loom in it. Just wondering if you had any advice?

Cheers
Dave

i think it was 2 lots of power to the ecu.
also my fuel pump is'nt buzin up either

anyone else got any ideas?????

advice to dave
it will make your life alot easier if you strip the donor car(an can hear it run before hand) its not that hard of a job you just have to hope you dont end up with a problem like mine

I've already got the engine, loom etc and am just waiting on an exhaust. I just hope it all goes smoothly.

Bazza,I know this will sound stupid, but have you got the multiplugs for the fuel and ignition ecus on the right ecus.Cos they fit on both,i did this on mine and had the same prob, swapped the connectors over and it started first crank.HTH

If youve got power going into the coil and not out of it then it could be fooked, but still what loom and engine have you got in it coz ive just read that youve put a s2 dizzy in there and i'm not to sure if that could be the prob also!?!
Convertin a cabby is a piece of pi55 i rebuilt mine using s2 stuff so i had to change quite a bit to keep the s2 loom whole but providing you have every thing (I had a donor car so i knew every thing was ok) then its a stright forward job, where are you on the map dave??? Ive got a s2 s/s scorpion for sale!!

I did this too! Didn't know then that the S1 and S2 ecus are the other way around. I just had a look from a S2 which way they go and obviously it went wrong.

tried to swap um no joy..
ive got power goin into coil out of coil the power is goin all the way back to the ecu.
the fuel pump is not buzzin up ive checked the feed to the pump an im gettin 12v for a split second when the ignition is switched.
bin told that if the pump is'nt spinin up then i wont get a spark because its on the same system.
