get a 12v lamp on a length of wire and touch it to each terminal on the boot connections and to the body , while pressing the boot release switch, you'll see which it is whn it lights up, the other connections are for the rear wiper.

The boot release gets power from the anti theft/central locking module.
The actual motor for releasing the boot lock should be red with a white stripe. Should be a 1mm2 wire and located inside the tailgate behind the panel where the wiper motor would be
see if this helps if not post back and let me know

I can find the 12v wire in the boot but am trying to find it closer to the switch. Saves a lot of pissing about gettin wire into tailgate. Any idea where it is in the car?

Have a look in the footwell area for the central locking module and should see a red/white wire 1mm2 coming from a 10 way connector. this should activate the boot release. juts check with a multimeter first to make sure this wire is the one that does go to the boot release motor. HTH
Theres 2 red/white wires, 1 is the central locking wire (i have already cut into this one) and another the same. The other has got about .3v at it all the time but not 12v when the switch is pressed, any other ideas?

Can you trace back the wire from the release motor with a multimeter also pull out the release switch and have a look at the colour of wires this may help. sorry cant be of any more help without actually being there
