Apparently happened a while ago, and had mechanic look, but he said everything was ok.

Anyway, SWMBO text this morning saying it was doing it again, and was very loud. Same on the way home.

I'm bringing it to work tomorrow and get it on our demo diagnostics machine. I'm hoping (from a Google search) it's just the Idle Control Valve.

Has anyone else had experience? It's a 1.3 Ford Ka 54 plate. Really hoping it's nothing major as we've just spent a fair bit sorting some common bodywork rust on it.

 

Unplug the Speed sensor which is part of the speedo pick up on the gearbox. There's a speedo cable going into the speed sensor and also a plug that plugs into it. Undo the plug and try driving it again. Very common prob. If it works then the speedo will still work from the cable
