Default 2ltr Mk3 fiesta question..

Hi Folks, a fella i know has done an engine swap on his mk3.5 fiesta, he's put a 2.0 mondy zetec lump in it.

At present, we're trying to work out what crank sensor it needs ?

does it use the 2.0 mondy crank sensor or does it work with the original fiesta one work just as well ? The reason i ask is because it runs rough as fuck (but it does actually run) but he can't remember which one he 'installed'

Are there any other 'common' issues that go with this engine transplant ???

going up to have a proper look at the car tomorrow so can answer any queries while i'm standing next to it.

You can use either the 1.6/1.8 or 2 litre crank sensor.

i believe it's running the DESK ecu, not sure on the maf or TB at the moment but i'll find out tomorrow - i did ask him if he's checked the maf. I'm not sure what the original lump was - think it was a 1600

The wrong maf and/or throttle body could make it run rough. Have you checked for air leaks and the the icv is clean and working properly?

i haven't actually been let loose in the engine bay yet, will be having a proper look at it tomorrow day time, air leaks were my first thought along with the maf and ICV. However i have seen & smelt it running - it absolutely stank of unburnt fuel from the exhaust and it runs so rough that it's only just keeping itself running let alone idling !

Hmm, sounds like it may be more than one thing. Difficult to say without having the car in front of me. Keep us posted

You can clean the isv out mate.My thoughts are maf or lambda sensor.Do you have a diagnostic port in the loom the little triangle shape plug?

Gave all the inlet system a ruddy good cleaning, changed the air filter and plugs and she runs a lot better now. still a bit lumpy but i think he's considering putting something bigger in there, so not too fussed now !

Thanks for the input folks, much appreciated.
