Default Air con leak

Hi this is my first post, hope someone can offer me some advice. My air con was not getting cold and the compressor is not working. I was told that it wont kick in if the gas is low. I went and had it pressured up and there is a leak somewhere on the system. I know the leak could be anywhere and i will have to get a dye put in to find it. Could someone tell me if it is likely to cost me a fortune to fix? I have heard horror story's of pipes in difficult areas and really high labour charges. Many thanks in advance.
